Late last night I came across JP Cooper’s music. Holy schmoly, his music is simply divine. It’s got a bluesy / soul sound to it. I don’t like comparing artists to others, everyone’s sound is different and unique to their creation!
JP’s been gigging around for a while and has a couple of dates coming up in London and Manchester. Erhem, he’s from Manchester. Local blood! Oh yeaaah! Looking forward to catching him live at Gorilla in December.
Check out his track ‘For The Man I’ve Known‘ recorded at Spirit Studio (SSR) below. It’s captivating to say the least…
Catch him live at:
November 7th – Huddersfield – Bar 1:22
December 5th – Manchester – Gorilla
December 11th – London – XOYO
December 12th – Totnes – South Devon Arts Centre
Initially saw these guys last year at SSR in Manchester when I was shooting for Beatwolf. I’ve seen them twice so far, the second show I felt like I was in NYC when a rapper headed up on stage and they did a rendition of, I wanna say, Lauryn Hill! (It’s been a while..I’m 98% sure it was this) I don’t know why I hadn’t shared their music sooner to be honest! The line-up consists of JJ Rosa, Jimmy Wood and Marky VT. JJ Rosa’s vocal is simply stunning, so very soulful, don’t even get me started on her mad guitar skills! Their stage presence is truly captivating.
There’s a FREE EP up for grabs via www.jjrosa.com which was recorded at Manchester’s Deaf Institute. Go grab it whilst you can.
Check out ‘Devil‘ below – And if you’re a fan of Alex Clare – Have a watch of her ‘Too Close‘
They got a couple of gigs coming up:
September 11th – London – Death to Disco @ Notting Hill Arts Club
October 19th – Oxford – Oxford Gathering
