New Music Find Monday

Last couple weeks have been crazy fun & busy. I’ve been out shooting a fair amount of gigs & things  & the time and effort that goes into arranging these things without a huge publication behind you can be challenging amongst other everyday life things! I’m having  a blast with it though.

I’m convinced it will all pay off at some point! So my blog posts have taken a little bit of a bashing. I may even try scheduling them in on auto.

I’ve been hooked on CW’s Beauty & The Beast since the first season. It’s currently on Season 2 & I have to religiously watch it every week. It’s my downtime for an hour to tune out! I love that about Winter, my fave shows air again. I use to watch Heroes religiously a few years back. The suckers ended the show, grr! Anyway, I caught this first track on Beauty & The Beast (Season 2 – Episode 4) . I love Shazam for moments like this!

Check out James BayStealing Cars below. His a 22 year old singer songwriter from the UK, looks like he’s been gigging around for a while. Thanks for this find CW!

There’s a free download over at his website here.

In love with this next track. I went & saw Thor: The Dark World the other night with a girl friend of mine. If you haven’t gone and watched it yet – I URGE YOU TO DO IT. It was absolutely brilliant on so many levels, a little magical too. Assassin Creed IV ad came on the big screen & this track jumped right out at me. I think it’s gonna be a biggie.

Half Moon Run are from Ottawa, Ontario and Comox,BC. They have a pop funky folky sound to this track. I’m yet to listen to more of their music, but check out their track Full Circle below. I love the video too.

Last week I got an email through to say one of my music shots had got me through to being a finalist for a contest. The contest was run through Talenthouse & sponsored by Nokia. There’s 23 of us as finalists, the next stage was to shoot a gig here in Manchester. The artist will later select his fave shot & there’s a cash prize up for grabs courtesy of Nokia.

The artist to shoot live was Dave Hause. I’d checked out his music before but hadn’t seen him live yet. The gig took place at Gorilla in Manchester (pretty awesome venue, intimate but the sound was clean) So 2 nights ago I went by to shoot the show, regardless of whether I end up winning the contest or not, it was a great night and I was stoked to have captured the gig. The energy was buzzing.

Dave Hause, originally from Philadelphia was awesome live. His music is a blend of folk & punk. He rocked the stage solo. Since going solo from past projects, Hause has supported The Gaslight Anthem, Social Distortion, Bouncing Souls & Chuck Ragan. I don’t think the CD does him justice as his live performance and energy was just amazing. His latest album Devour dropped not long ago. Check out his latest single We Could Be Kings below

One of my personal fave’s is C’mon Kid See it below

Pretty happy tracks!
