Didn’t think it was possible to have bank holiday blues from travelling 2 hours down the road. But it’s real people!
Hope you guys and guys had a luuuurvely time & the sun was shining where ever you are.
London trip this time was planned around Bank Holiday here in the UK by accident. I’d booked tickets to see Korn at their Brixton date as it’s the only show they had announced a few months back. So friend and I made plans to just do a few days over there instead of a night or two. It wasn’t until we looked at booking accommodation we realised it was bank holiday. Dime bar over here doing what I do best – getting excited over an adventure and not planning in advance haha. Oopsie!
We ended up booking at Ramada Hotel & Suites over by Docklands area via Lastminute.com’s Secret Hotel service they offer online. We did this last time & ended up in Kensington so trusted it would give us a great location / price.
Loved it! From central we had to grab the over ground, it’s situated pretty close to The O2 arena which was brilliant. Worked out pretty well as I’d won tickets to go see Example who was playing at Peninsular Square – Brooklyn Bowl. This is actually in the O2 itself – it was an awesome gig put on by Vevo in line with promoting his new tracks – amazing venue & Example had the room bouncing front to back! Thanks Vevo & Example!
Me being a tourist =D
Friday night was aaaalllll about Korn. Prior to that we went and saw Dinosaurs =D
My oh myyyy I’d been excited to go see them again, more so as Head joined them again last year & I hadn’t seen him back on stage with them. He’d been gone for around 8 years or so. Korn smashed it and the crowd was ALIVE. Openers Hacktivist got the crowd well and truly warmed up (they were amazing, go give them a listen) Head popped his head out pre show & Fieldy was bopping about and spoke to some fans. It was a hyped up night & daaaaamn my body ached after rocking out. Amazing night! Gutted to not be shooting the show….bucket list things…one day soon
Saturday we hung back at the hotel and then headed out to see Amazing Spider Man 2! Hopped over to the O2 Arena again via the sky cable cars. It cost around £3 or so, similair to using the underground really but so much more pretty up in the air! For anyone that’s not been around the O2 Arena area but your headed over for a show etc, definitely would recommend the hotel above as it’s walking distances from the sky cable cars & O2 is just a few minutes walk from the other side of the bridge. You can grab a cheaper breakfast over at the excel if you wanted too as well as theirs more variety and well it’s much cheaper than hotel options!
Loved Spider-Man 2!! Didn’t realise Dane Deehan was in the flick. I first saw him in Place Beyond The Pines alongside Ryan Gosling. Loved his character and acting, I think he pulled his role off reeeeally well in Amazing Spider-Man 2! I won’t give away what his role was I case you haven’t seen it yet!
We hit Thorpe Park on Sunday. I think the last theme park I visited was Disney in Tokyo! It’s been a while that’s for sure. I love a bargain haha so friend had a coupon that was buy one get one free. It was definitely worth the £24 entry!
The roller coasters were so fun, I think personal fave had to be Saw & Colossus. Colossus left my throat really sore, errrr I screamed a little too much and loud on that one. It was so so fun though! Saw was awesome but it could have been even better if it was a little longer. Thorpe Park was easy to get to from central – if you’re thinking of visiting, you can get a £10 (at this time it was) train fair (return) from London Waterloo station across to Staines. They then had regular shuttles to the theme park from Staines train station. Return on the shuttle was around £3/£4.
Back to the grind now though… boooooo!!
